Pimlico Academy rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted

We are delighted to announce that Pimlico Academy has been rated ‘Outstanding’ in the recent Ofsted inspection. As sponsor of the academy, Future has seen the school grow from strength to strength in the two years since it opened as Pimlico Academy and we are very pleased to see the achievements of staff and students recognised by Ofsted.

The Ofsted report stated: “Principal Jerry Collins’ outstanding vision and leadership of his staff has ensured a true equality and high quality of educational opportunities for all students to excel.”

“Students’ outcomes at individual level and by group are rigorously monitored in line with the equalities policy, and interventions and curriculum strategies are shaped accordingly following evaluation. This excellent practice has contributed to the cohesive community within the academy, as has the enormous range of productive external partnerships”, it continued.

John Nash, Chairman of Governors, Pimlico Academy and Chairman of Future, comments: ‘We are thrilled to have received outstanding Ofsted recognition for the transformation of Pimlico Academy over the past two years. Given our very diverse population, we are particularly proud to have achieved ‘Outstanding’ for equality. The ethos at the Academy is founded on our core belief that everyone, whatever their background or personal circumstances, can achieve to the maximum of their ability.”

Future announces latest grants

We are very pleased to announce that we are awarding two new grants. The first is to The Place2Be, a charity working inside primary schools to improve the emotional well-being of children, their families and the whole school community. Future is hugely impressed by the impact Place2Be is having in schools around the country and we are pleased to award this grant which will help support Place2Be’s work with vulnerable children in Nottingham. Our second award is to Chance UK, a charity providing one-to-one mentoring for children aged 5-11 with behavioural difficulties. We have made this grant as we feel that Chance UK’s early intervention mentoring model can have an enormous impact in steering children towards more positive futures.

Pimlico Academy achieves its best GSCE results to date

This summer 59% of students achieved 5 A*-C at GCSE. This is an enormous achievement; a 23 percentage point increase on the results from summer 2008, just before the school became as Academy.
